Minister not adopting any school

SIBU: Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah wants all school students in his constituency to be proficient in English.

However, he does not plan to adopt any particular school in his constituency for the English proficiency programme, saying he treats all the schools as ‘equal’.

“I would want all school students in my constituency to be proficient in English and not just focussing on one ‘adopted school’.

Resounding endorsement for CM

June 8, 2014

“The first 10 days as chief minister was full of events and he showed his capability as chief executive officer of the state in riding through these events without any glitches.” Tuan Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah

Adenan being interviewed during ‘Khas Bersama’ show to commemorate his 100 days in office at RTM Auditorium.
Adenan’s first 100 days in office has convinced the people he is the right person to take over the helm of the state

KUCHING: The commitment of Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem to stave off religious and racial extremists, strong stance on Sarawak’s position in the nation, call for oil and gas 20 per cent royalty for the state and reaching out to the opposition in his first 100 days has won him a resounding endorsement from the people.

It was not only his stance on these key issues that won him the plaudits as Adenan had also proven that he could walk the talk by putting his words into action as shown by his approval of RM1 million for the medical bills of former DAP state chief Wong Ho Leng.

A survey carried out by thesundaypost showed that the new chief minister has won the approval of the people and leaders in his first 100 days in office.

Minister of Works Datuk Fadillah Yusof says Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem has proven that he is the right man to take over from Tun Pehin Sri Taib Mahmud as chief minister.

Fadillah added that Adenan had lived up to the expectations of the people in his first 100 days.

“I’m very thankful that the people in the state have been giving great response to the chief minister’s first 100 days in office,” he said yesterday after officiating at the Datuk Fadillah Sepak Takraw competition at The Hills shopping complex.

Swasta penting bangunkan industri perumahan: Karim

Posted on January 15, 2013, Tuesday

“Isn’t this the chap who belittled the natives of Sarawak as still backward, still wearing ‘cawat’ and don’t know how to vote? - Tuan Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah

KUCHING: Some BN leaders cannot fathom how the man who said the Dayaks are still wearing “cawat” (loinclothes) wants to be the next prime minister.

The insulting remark by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang which was made in July 2010 was still fresh in their minds.

“To us Dayaks, this (Hadi to be PM) is looking down on us and very condescending. The Dayaks, even those in the Opposition I think, would know who not to support,” SPDP president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom told The Star yesterday.

On top of that, he said, PAS championing the implementation of the Hudud Law did not go down well with some non-Muslim communities and had caused some uneasiness even among the other Opposition leaders.

Mawan, who is also Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) president, urged the Dayak community, especially PR supporters, to think twice when casting their votes.

“We should see it coming. The Hudud Law would be implemented if Hadi becomes PM,” he said.

Hadi had angered Sarawak’s Iban community when he blamed PKR’s loss in the April 7, 2010 Batang Ai by-election to ignorant voters who did not know how to vote and “were still wearing loinclothes”.

Karim tells Baru don't be arrogant and stop thinking BN YBs are cheap

KUCHING: Leaders from PBB and SUPP have thrown the gauntlet to state PKR chief Baru Bian to reveal the names of BN elected representatives whom he claimed were keen to join Pakatan Rakyat (Pakatan) in the coming general election.

PBB Supreme Council member Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said he believed Baru was ‘day dreaming’ for making the claim while state BN Youth chairman Datuk Fadillah Yusof and SUPP Youth chief Tan Kai challenged Baru to show proof as Pakatan possessed a credibility problem.

“I cannot answer for the elected representatives from BN Sabah, but if Baru Bian and Pakatan think that there are elected representatives from BN Sarawak who want to join the opposition in the coming election or contest under Pakatan ticket, he is only day dreaming,” said Abdul Karim when contacted yesterday.

On Tuesday, Baru, who is also Ba’Kelalan assemblyman, claimed that some BN elected representatives from Sabah and Sarawak were keen to jump ship as they were not happy with some BN policies.

Abdul Karim, who is also Assistant Minister of Youth Development, likened Pakatan to a half-sinking ship without a true captain because all its partners – PKR, DAP and PAS – had their own agenda.

“Does Baru Bian think that elected representatives from BN are so stupid as to want to board such a ship?” asked Abdul Karim, who is also Asajaya assemblyman.

He advised Baru not to be “so arrogant”, and to stop thinking that BN elected representatives were “cheap”.
