Abang Jo kekal presiden SABERKAS, Abdul Karim timbalan

MANTAP: Abang Johari bersama barisan kepimpinan baharu Saberkas 2017-2020
KUCHING: Pertubuhan Belia Bersatu Sarawak (SABERKAS) mengekalkan Ketua Menteri Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari TUn Abang Openg sebagai presiden bagi penggal 2017-2020 menerusi Perhimpinan Tritahunan SABERKAS di sini, semalam.

Bagaimanapun, jawatan timbalan presiden diberikan kepada muka baharu iaitu Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah bagi menggantikan Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn yang mengundur diri kerana ingin memberi peluang kepada muka baharu.

Naib presiden juga menyaksikan tiga muka baharu iaitu Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Dennis Ngau dan Gerald Rentap Jabu termasuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, yang menang tanpa bertanding.

About 4,000 youths to converge on Betong for Youth Day do

KUCHING: About 4,000 young people are expected at the state-level Youth Day 2017 to be held at Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall in Betong from Oct 27-29.

The event themed ‘Youths catalysts of inspiration, drivers of innovation’ (Belia pencetus inspirasi, pemacu innovasi) is aimed at reaching out to youths and create stronger ties with them to understand and meet their needs as well as provide an avenue for them to interact with the community and their leaders in the spirit of solidarity.

Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg would officiate at the opening ceremony.

‘Sarawak needs to develop tourism industry to sustain its economy’

KUCHING: Sarawak has to keep moving forward in developing the tourism industry to sustain its economy because the state cannot cut its forests forever to extract timber and set up oil palm plantations to bring in revenue, Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said.

“As tourism has been a major contributor to the economy of many countries, the state has to develop it to make it a mainstay of our state’s economy,” he said at the grand opening of the Marian Boutique Lodging House here yesterday, adding the state has to find other ways to ensure its economy is sustainable.
