ASAJAYA: There is no plan by the Fire and Rescue Department to build a fire station here.
The revelation was made yesterdy by the Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“As for proposal for a fire station to be built in Asajaya, the matter has already been proposed but Bomba has its own procedures in regards to the overall population of the area.
I was told that there are no plans as of yet to build a fire station here,” he quoted by an English daily.
He said, inview of this, there was a pressing need to establish a volunteer firefighting unit in the district and hoped that the villagers — through their respective village security and development committees — would collaborate with the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) to hold courses and be supplied with firefighting equipment.
Karim, who is the Housing and Youth Development Assistant Minister, was in Kampung Sambir to meet up with fire victims and made a personal contribution.
He also handed over foodstuff and other basic necessities on behalf of the district office and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Asajaya.
