Rainforest in The City not to be missed — Abdul Karim

KUCHING: Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Mainmunah Iskandariah is expected to officiate at the launching ceremony of the Rainforest Fringe Festival 2019 (RFF2019) on July 5.

Among the highlights of the launching ceremony, which will be held at the Old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building, is the ‘Lembaran Emas: Songket and Keringkam of Sarawak’ fashion show.

In a press conference held yesterday at Level 2, Baitulmakmur Complex, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the fashion show would feature designs from Malaysia’s ‘King of Fashion’ Dato Sri Bernard Chandran and Sarawak’s own ‘Queen of Bornean Fashion’ Dato Tom Abang Saufi.

Tiga festival antarabangsa itu, Festival Muzik Hutan Hujan Dunia (RWMF2019) Ke-22, Festival ‘Borneo Jazz Music 2019 Ke-14 dan Rainforest Fringe Festival.

KUCHING: Pintu adalah terbuka untuk mana-mana parti politik termasuk Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) mengembangkan sayap mereka ke Sarawak, kerana Malaysia adalah sebuah negara demokrasi.

Naib Presiden Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah berkata bagaimanapun, ia terpulang kepada rakyat Sarawak sama ada untuk menerimanya atau tidak.

“Sarawak memang terbuka kepada mana-mana parti yang nak datang mengembangkan sayapnya tetapi saya percaya, rakyat Sarawak sudah cukup matang dalam politik,” katanya ketika diminta mengulas mengenai rancangan PPBM untuk memasuki Sarawak pada Sidang Media Rainforest Fringe Festival (RFF) 2018 di Borneo 744, di sini hari ini.

Second Rainforest Fringe Festival scheduled for July 6-15

KUCHING: The second edition of Rainforest Fringe Festival (RFF) will be held here from July 6 to 15.

According to Minister of Tourism, Arts, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, there would be more showcases of cultural, contemporary, and traditional events which are representative of the state’s exciting and complex nature, and its many indigenous groups.

He said RFF is a prelude to the Rainforest World Music Festival which will be held from July 13 to 15 at Sarawak Cultural Village near here.

This year’s edition of RWMF different from previous years

KUCHING: The 20th Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) is this year different from previous years with the presence of an inaugural Rainforest Fringe Festival (RFF) from July 7 to 16.

During the launching ceremony held at the Old Courthouse here yesterday, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said RFF is a 10-day spectacle of the best that Sarawak has to offer in terms of art, craft, music, fashion, food, film and photography.

“In previous years, RWMF was always confined in Damai, about 20km away from here.
