KUCHING: PBB Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said SUPP leaders should know the implications for making silly comments.
“Their leaders, whether they are rookies or veterans, must be able to differentiate what are diamonds and what are just glasses.
“I can’t speak on behalf of our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, but I can say PBB members are angry. I dare say anyone in the chief minister’s position would be very angry.”
Karim said Milton should know the implications as he would be contesting and needed Bumiputera and PBB support.
“Even in the last state and parliamentary election, support from the Chinese community for SUPP was just a mere 20 per cent. The bulk of support came from the Bumiputeras, whose support ranged from 60 to 80 per cent,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Karim stressed he was not racist, but SUPP must strive to win back support from the community and not offend those who had all along supported them.
“Milton is not a team player. If he can’t fit in with the BN concept and ideology, just politely withdraw and don’t be a menace and acting like a hero.
“If he thinks going ‘head on’ against the chief minister is his way to win support for himself, I feel sorry for him. We don’t need a Wolf in Sheep clothing within our midst.
“You are either with us or not with us.”
Meanwhile PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said it was normal during election time for some quarters to be upset with the decisions made by their superiors.
“It is normal for some groups to be unhappy with the candidate, but during polling day, they will decide what is good for the country,” he said to reporters here yesterday.
He was asked to comment on the outburst of BN candidate for Pending, Milton Foo, that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s decision to field direct BN candidates in several SUPP’s traditional seats was not in accordance to the BN principle.
Foo, a lawyer, claimed the people did not want a chief minister who is ‘authoritative’” and ‘dictatorial’.
“You want Sarawak to get back its autonomy, yet you are trampling the dignity of your political allies,” said Foo.
