KUCHING, June 27: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah believed Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (PPBM) intention to expand to Sarawak was to split Sarawakians.

The ultimate aim, he added, was to seize control of the state after dividing its people into small factions.

“It (PPBM) just wants to come over to split us into small fractions. It is here to split the Bumiputera. It does not want to see Sarawakians staying united,” Abdul Karim told DayakDaily today.

No reason for PPBM to enter Sarawak, unless Mahathir doesn't trust the state PH

June 26, 2018

KUCHING, June 26: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM)’s plan to enter Sarawak can be perceived as Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the peninsula not trusting its Sarawak counterpart.

This is how state Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah puts it: “Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s recent announcement that PPBM is considering opening up branches in Sarawak could mean that he does not believe (in) the local base PH coalition.”

Speaking to reporters after attending the Rainforest Fringe Festival 2018 briefing, Abdul Karim opined that since the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) were already here, there should be no reason for Dr Mahathir to bring his party (PPBM) to Sarawak, unless he does not trust the local base PH.

KUCHING: The Sarawak government does not have to file a case in the High Court to reclaim its rights over oil and gas in the state, said Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

He pointed out that this is because Sarawak has its own special law that’s applicable in the state, namely the Oil Mining Ordinance (OMO).

“We have always felt that the OMO can still be used. But on the other side, Petronas feels that the OMO has already been repealed when the Petroleum Development Act (PDA) 1974 was introduced.

-UtusanBorneo

Posa urged to lodged MACC report over missing of RM91 mln from FAS coffers

June 12, 2018

KUCHING: Football Association Sarawak (FAS) president Dato Posa Majais has been urged to lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) over his allegation on the missing of RM91 million from the association’s coffers.

Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah who gave this advice, said such case must be handled by the authority in order for the culprit to be brought to justice.

He said FAS has always been a recipient of state grant, where they received RM3.5 million annually and were independent to managed their association.

“However, with the current development, I believe that the state needs to know what are the current issues involving the association.

“I will meet with Posa soon to discuss about this case and at the same time to advise them on how to revamp FAS,” he said.

Abdul Karim also said that as suggested by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, FAS needed to be revamped and his meeting with Posa soon would also look into that matter.

The Borneo Post however failed to contact Posa to get his comments.
