KUCHING: Assistant Minister of Youth Development Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has pledged RM5,000 for Ultimate Professional Centre (UPC) to carry out more activities to build and enhance networks among professional bodies.
Abdul Karim, in announcing this on Tuesday night at UPC’s Inter-Professional Games (IPG) 2013 closing ceremony and prize-giving dinner held at the Sarawak Club here, congratulated everyone for the successful event.
“The Social Development Ministry welcomes and looks forward to further cooperation with UPC in organising more activities in the near future,” Abdul Karim said.
The bi-annual games, hosted by UPC, took place from Aug 20 to Sept 10 at various venues around the city in which participants competed in five events of futsal, golf, darts, bowling and badminton.
A total of 11 professional member bodies comprising the Malaysian Institute of Accountants Sarawak, Advocates Association of Sarawak (Kuching branch), Institut Kimia Malaysia, Institution of Engineers Malaysia (Sarawak), Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (Sarawak), Malaysia Medical Association (Sarawak), Malaysia Institute of Planners (S/S Chapter), Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (Sarawak Chapter), Persatuan Farmasi Sarawak, Sarawak Institute of Agriculture Scientists and Sarawak Veterinary Association were involved.
Abdul Karim hoped that UPC will continue to carry out IPG for many more years to come and provide professional members with an avenue for better cooperation and communication.
“The organising committee has done a great job in not only hosting the IPG but also in bringing the members of various professions together to celebrate sports and camaraderie.
