“Think of your children’s future before you plan to sell your land. Your land is your main asset.

“I urge recipients of land titles to take proper care of their land titles as they are priceless assets,” he told hundreds of recipients for traditional village land titles and Village Extension Scheme compensations.

A total of 553 land ownership titles for Kampung Nakong, Kampung Tanjung Tuang, Kampung Niup, Kampung Tambey, and Kampung Pinang, were given out under Section 18 of the State Land Code.

Rakyat mesti bijak membuat pilihan -Karim

April 29, 2016

"BE STRONG, IMAN. I WILL BE BACK."

As a veteran politician, he has seen a lot things.

So, when he was told about a young mother and her sick baby boy, he never thought that it would be something that would catch him off guard.

He entered his car and went to the young mother's house.

She was staying with her parents in Kampung Rebak.

When he stepped into the house, he could see a young lady was sitting on the floor in the living room.

Infront of her was a thin mattress - and there was a baby lying on it.

The baby wasn't moving. Seemed to b sleeping.

He walked towards the young lady confidently.

Upon seeing Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the young lady rose and greeted him.

"BE STRONG, IMAN. I WILL BE BACK."
After having a short conversation, Abdul Karim tried to have a closer look at the baby, Mohd Iman Qayyim Mohd Nazri.

April 28, 2016

Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah memberi
taklimat.

Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah
menyampaikan ucapan.
Menyentuh tentang program kempen kesedaran keselamatan sungai, ahli Majlis Tertinggi PBB menggesa penguna pengangkutan air agar jangan memandang ringan terhadap aspek keselamatan.

April 24, 2016

Datuk Jailani Johari menandatangani plak perasmian.

Karim tells DAP - "Sarawakians are not simpletons, we are not illiterate"

April 22, 2016

Abdul Karim Hamzah slams DAP for being so patronising as to think Sarawakians can only understand issues via the medium of cartoons.

PETALING JAYA: An animated video by the DAP that has made the news in the run-up to the Sarawak election has been slammed by PBB strongman Abdul Karim Hamzah as “tasteless, pathetic and condescending.”

In a statement he issued last night, Abdul Karim said the 4:53-minute video that mocks what appears to be the prime minister and his wife was not only childish to the core but glaring proof that DAP was utterly clueless about how to tackle the delicate subject of politics in Sarawak.

He also described the video as an outright insult to all Sarawakians as DAP used the medium of a cartoon to communicate its message of change to the people.

“What are they trying to accomplish through the video? Do they think Sarawakians are unable to comprehend issues that they have to present their arguments in the form of cartoons?” said the Asajaya assemblyman, pointing out that the message the video was sending was also fallacious in its content.

“Sarawakians are not simpletons, we are not illiterate. DAP should not be so patronising to think Sarawakians can only understand issues through cartoons.”

The PBB Supreme Council member said the animation showed that DAP was devoid of ideas on how to take on Sarawak Barisan Nasional and its popular chief minister Adenan Satem.

He said DAP had failed miserably in countering any of Adenan’s numerous achievements in Sarawak, and being bankrupt of any intelligent response, had resorted instead to “importing” cheap political fodder from West Malaysia.

April 21, 2016

Kadim (third from left) exchanges the signed MoA with Dr Kong. Abdul Karim is third from right, back row.
KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Eye Specialist Centre (ESC) Kuching yesterday to bring enhanced eye or ophthalmology services to the state.

The MoA was signed by Unimas vice chancellor Prof Dato Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi while ESC was represented by its medical director Dr Dennis Kong and director Dr Tiong Tung Hui.

BN candidate for Asajaya Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah witnessed the signing.

Kadim said the collaboration marked another milestone for Unimas, especially its Medicine and Health Science Faculty.

“The enhanced service in the important sub-specialties of complex glucoma and vitreo-retinal/retina surgery services will complement existing ophthalmology services in the state,” he said.

Kadim added the collaboration would provide a good platform for research and training to benefit students, lecturers, medical practitioners and the community, in general.

“All these efforts are vital towards contributing to the advancement of the standard and quality of eye care, through new discoveries, innovation of new treatments and surgical techniques.”

Approval rating is a manifestation of people's confidence in Adenan

April 21, 2016

PBB Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah says Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s approval rating is a manifestation of the people’s confidence in his leadership.

However, he cautioned that it was just an opinion survey covering a small spectrum of society of probably a few hundred people.

“It is not a true indication that several urban seats previously held by the opposition would be recaptured.

“We still need to work hard and ensure that what’s shown in the survey would become a reality,” he added.

The State BN secretary-general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi also echoed similar standpoint against complacency.

He said the BN candidates needed to work diligently to translate this popularity into votes, saying Adenan’s popularity was no guarantee that all BN candidates would win.

Move not to give licence to outlets lauded

April 20, 2016

Abdul Karim looks at one of the health products of the Health Department at the exhibition. Hamsein is on his right.
LUNDU: State PEMADAM Chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah commended Lundu District Office for taking a stance of not approving licence for any entertainment or gambling outlet in the town.

“I am glad to hear that the office is taking a firm stance in not approving licence for any entertainment or gambling outlet in Lundu, as these are places that will lead youths into social ills, such as drug abuse.

“However, as the area develops, the crime rate may rise and so too are people attempting to push drugs, particularly poor man’s drugs such as gum or cough syrup as we still do not have the laws to regulate these substances.

“Therefore, it is important to educate our youths about the dangers of drug abuse,” he said at the closing ceremony of Iman Drug-Free School Programme at SMK Lundu yesterday.

Abdul Karim noted that even though drug abuse was less worrying in Sarawak due to its geographical location that prevented easy entry of drugs into the state, there was the need for parents and schools to monitor the activities of youngsters.

“It may not be a very big problem in the state now, but we cannot be complacent. We still need to create awareness on the dangers. Drug abuse can destroy a nation. Once under the influence of drugs, individuals cannot think or work properly and thus will affect productivity and the economy.

“Parents need to monitor their children’s activities and schools are ideal avenues to hold awareness programmes.

Adenan is not a dictator

April 20, 2016

PBB Supreme Council member Karim Hamzah takes Sarawak DAP to task for calling Adenan Satem a dictator.

PETALING JAYA: PBB Supreme Council member Karim Hamzah says Sarawak DAP Chairman Chong Chien Jen does not understand the meaning of “dictator”.

He said by making such a sweeping statement that Chief Minister Adenan Satem was a “dictator in the making”, Chong was showing he was desperate and fearful that his party will get thrashed in the forthcoming election.

“He is trying to make a last-ditch attempt to show DAP is still relevant.”

Chong had made the “dictator in the making” remark when commenting on the increasing number of Opposition leaders from West Malaysia being barred entry into Sarawak.

Amanah’s Communications Director and Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad was the latest to be barred entry on reaching Kuching International Airport yesterday.

Karim pointed out that since becoming Chief Minister about two years ago, Adenan had made more than 50 good decisions which had been well accepted by the Sarawak public.

“This is the reason for his soaring approval, as noted in the Merdeka Center survey.

PBB members are angry -Karim

April 19, 2016

KUCHING: PBB Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said SUPP leaders should know the implications for making silly comments.

“Their leaders, whether they are rookies or veterans, must be able to differentiate what are diamonds and what are just glasses.

“I can’t speak on behalf of our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, but I can say PBB members are angry. I dare say anyone in the chief minister’s position would be very angry.”

Karim said Milton should know the implications as he would be contesting and needed Bumiputera and PBB support.

“Even in the last state and parliamentary election, support from the Chinese community for SUPP was just a mere 20 per cent. The bulk of support came from the Bumiputeras, whose support ranged from 60 to 80 per cent,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Karim stressed he was not racist, but SUPP must strive to win back support from the community and not offend those who had all along supported them.

“Milton is not a team player. If he can’t fit in with the BN concept and ideology, just politely withdraw and don’t be a menace and acting like a hero.

Foo is not a team player -Karim

April 18, 2016

Milton Foo "not a team player" for openly criticising Chief Minister Adenan Satem over selection of candidates for Sarawak election.

PETALING JAYA: Two PBB leaders have taken their fellow Barisan Nasional member, Milton Foo of SUPP, to task for lashing out at Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem over his selection of candidates in the upcoming sate election.

The two are PBB Supreme Council members Abdul Karim Hamzah and Abdullah Saidol.

Karim said Foo was a political novice who did not deserve to be a BN candidate as he did not know how to be a team player.

“His (Foo’s) allegations and comments are very serious, provocative, and could affect the good relationship between SUPP and other BN coalition partners, especially PBB,” Borneo Post Online reported him as saying.

Karim said PBB members were angry and called on Foo, BN’s pending candidate, to apologise to Adenan.

Abdullah, meanwhile, said Foo’s questioning of Adenan’s credibility and sincerity as state BN chairman was truly shocking.

He said he was unsure if Foo had secured the “blessings” of his SUPP superiors before making such naive remarks as all state BN members had many opportunities to convey any disagreement or differing view with Adenan.

Brickbats from PBB leaders for Milton Foo

April 18, 2016

KUCHING: BN-SUPP Pending candidate Milton Foo’s outburst over Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s decision on BN direct candidates has earned himself brickbats from two PBB leaders.

PBB Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah in responding to the allegation, said such statement by a “political novice” who had been announced as a BN candidate was just unfortunate.

“Personally, to me, he doesn’t deserve to be a BN flag bearer and candidate if he does not know how to be a team player. His allegations and comments are very serious, provocative, and could affect the good relationship between SUPP and other BN coalition partners, especially PBB.

“To say that PBB members are not angry is an understatement. We are! He should apologise to our CM for this uncalled for remark,” Abdul Karim, who is BN-PBB candidate for Asajaya, said in a statement yesterday.

Another PBB Supreme Council member Abdullah Saidol said Foo’s open comment in questioning Adenan’s credibility and sincerity as state BN chairman were truly shocking and deemed politically inappropriate and rude.

“Not sure whether he had secured ‘blessing’ from his superior in SUPP before making such statement. If not, then he should consult his party leaders first before making such naive remarks which shows his ignorance.”

Abdullah, who is BN-PBB candidate for Semop remarked that Foo’s choice of word in his statement was directly undermining Adenan’s leadership, such that he (Abdullah) could not help but to describe Foo’s attitude as ‘kurang ajar’ (no manners), self-centred and discourteous.

Do not play to the gallery, Guan Eng told

April 17, 2016

SIBU: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has been told not to play to the gallery and accuse the state government of abusing its powers.

A PBB Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was reacting to Lim’s claim that the state government’s move to ban certain individuals from entering the state was an abuse of power.

“Lim must know and understand that Sarawak has certain ‘autonomous rights and privileges’ which it inherits when Malaysia was formed together with Malaya, Singapore and Sabah in 1963,” Abdul Karim said.

He said these rights were enshrined in the Malaysian Constitution and Immigration was one of those rights.

Hence, he said it was not within Lim’s capacity and jurisdiction to allege that the state government’s move to ban certain individuals from entering the state was an abuse of power.

“Who is he to claim as such? Is he trying to say that this Immigration rights which Sarawak holds dearly is unconstitutional? The only organ of government that could deem it an abuse of power and unconstitutional is the judiciary.”

The BN candidate for Asajaya reckoned if Lim was unhappy with the barring of certain individuals by the Sarawak government, which included some leaders from DAP, he (Lim) should refer the matter to court for a judicial review.

‘Focus on winning election, not over seat allocation’

April 15, 2016

SIBU: SUPP should focus on winning the election and not cry over seats not allocated to them, says former Assistant Minister of Social Development (Youth) Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“Face the election knowing who our common enemy is instead of bragging like a lost child. Let the chief minister as the state BN head decide who should contest in which seat,” Abdul Karim, who is PBB Supreme Council member, said yesterday.

The BN Asajaya candidate was responding to SUPP president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian’s statement that he was disappointed with the nomination of direct BN candidates in several constituencies that were traditionally theirs.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem announced six direct BN candidates in Kuching on Wednesday – Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh (Bawang Assan), Datuk Dr Jerip Susil (Mambong), Datuk Tiong Thai King (Dudong), Ranum Mina (Opar), Dr Johnical Rayong (Engkilili) and Dato Hii King Chiong (Pujut).

Dr Sim was reported to have said while they did not agree with the concept of direct BN candidates they had been overruled by the chief minister.

He added that they were disappointed with the allocation of SUPP seats to direct BN candidates, especially in Pujut, where the CM had changed his mind. Dr Sim, however, said they took cognizance of the fact that it was his (Adenan) prerogative.

On this, Abdul Karim said: “He (Adenan) is a reasonable man and makes his decision on the final candidacy based on various feedbacks on the ground and the winnability of those candidates.
