ASAJAYA: Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah told recipients of minor rural project grants (MRP) from the government to spend the money on activities that benefit the people.
The recipients include parent-teacher associations (PTAs), non-govenrmental organisations (NGOs), mosques, churches, associations and welfare clubs.
“We don’t want the cash from the grant to be stuck in the recipient’s bank account for years, so hold programmes that benefit the people. If the grant is not enough, come to see me and we can discuss it,” said Abdul Karim who is also Assistant Minister Youth Development (Urban).
He handed over a total of RM1,093,000 to 136 NGOs, PTAs, associations including Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA), recreational clubs and mosques in his constituency at SMK Hajah Laila Taib school hall yesterday.
Abdul Karim advised PTA members and schools in his constituency to work together to achieve excellence in examinations.
He said the PTA helped students improve their achievements in academics and co-curriculum.
