7,000 take part in Prophet’s Birthday procession in Sibu

SIBU: More than 7,000 participants from 58 contingents took part in the annual Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday procession held at Sibu Town Square on Saturday.

The procession was led by Youth Development Assistant Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce Tuanku Mohamad and Ninth Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Abdul Rahim Sebeli.

The participating contingents comprised primary and secondary schools, government departments and agencies, statutory bodies, the private sector, organisations and associations, clubs, mosques and suraus, uniformed bodies, army, police and many others.

It was organised by the Sibu Divisional Level Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday Procession and Gathering Committee.

The procession started and ended at Sibu Town Square.

After the procession was a prize presentation to winners under various categories.
