“Maybe DAP and PR leaders are able to foresee and read the future."
- Tuan Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah
SIBU: Jepak assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip yesterday said DAP Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming’s statement at DAP’s Malaysia Dream forum in Kuching that PR would win more votes than BN in the next state election does not amuse him.
Ong was reported to have said that the opposition was now targeting young rural voters as part of its early preparation for the state poll.
“I do not know MP Ong, and they can have their dream. What is unbelievable at times is their patronising attitude. These ‘outside politicians’.
They take the attitude that we need their presence,” Talib, who is Assistant Minister of Tourism, said.
Meanwhile, PBB supreme council member Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, opined that it was a little too early for DAP or PR to make such a prediction.
“Maybe DAP and PR leaders are able to foresee and read the future.
“I know their big boss Anwar (Ibrahim) can do that because during the last 13th General Election, he declared that PR had won the election during a press conference with foreign journalists at 5pm on polling day when the Election Commission was just about to start counting and tallying votes nationwide,” he said.
Abdul Karim, who is Assistant Minister of Youth Development and Asajaya assemblyman, added that they were not bothered whether the opposition increase or decrease their votes.
“Our electoral system is not decided by popularity votes but on ‘first past the post’ system or based on the number of constituencies won,” he said.
