SIBU: Several Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders say DAP is now trying to claim credit for the abolition of the Lanang Bridge toll announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
They said this clearly showed that the opposition party was now desperate as they were running out of issues to spin.
State BN secretary-general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi said yesterday that Adenan initiated the move to end the toll at Lanang Bridge and those at other bridges long before DAP started its signature campaign to abolish the tolls.
“When they (DAP) came to know about it; they wanted to ride on it for their political mileage, that’s sign of desperation of DAP as they are running out of issue.
“And they will ride on anything they can to reverse the waning support that they facing lately, as CM said in his winding up speech, “BN government walk the talk contrary to DAP, talk only,” said Dr Rundi, who is Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunications).
Assistant Minister of Youth Development Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said DAP could initiate whatever petition or signature campaigns for abolition of tolls or other issues but it was the government of the day and the contractual parties involved that would have the final say.
“CM as we know is people-centric, transparent, and right from the time he took office we can see he is committed to bring change for the better.
