SAMM not welcomed in Sarawak — Karim

January 1, 2014

SIBU: PBB Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah yesterday told Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) to stay out of Sarawak.

He said the peninsula-based body should not export their hate and racial politics to the state because their antics could spark an unhealthy precedence for youths.

“What SAMM planned to do by inciting youths to hate our state leaders and show disloyalty to the government is very irresponsible.

“I believe Sarawakian youths would not be swayed by the so-called youth leaders from West Malaysia who did not have much knowledge of the political history and demography of Sarawak,” Abdul Karim, who is Assistant Minister of Youth Development and Asajaya assemblyman, said.

SAMM founder Badrul Hisham Shahrin, or popularly known as Che’Gubard, reportedly said their campaign would not involve street protests, but more of an awareness drive, whereby materials in both written and audio visual forms would be distributed, including in the interior.

“They should just focus on establishing racial and religious harmony in the peninsula instead of exporting their hate and racial politics to Sarawak,” said Abdul Karim.
