Stick to CM’s decision on seats — Abd Karim

December 18, 2015

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) supreme council member Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah says Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties must agree with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s decision that only one BN candidate will be put up in each constituency in the coming state election.

Concurring with Adenan, Abdul Karim said the candidate would be the one endorsed by BN.

“BN component parties must agree to that and the final decision on who the candidates are rests on the chairman of state BN,” Abdul Karim wrote in his WhatsApp yesterday.

He was asked about the announcement by Adenan, who is also the state BN chairman, that the state BN will field only one candidate in each of the 82 constituencies in the coming state election.

Abdul Karim, who is Assistant Housing Minister, pointed out that Adenan has his own way of identifying the candidates.

“CM (chief minister) as the state BN chairman has his way of identifying the candidates who I believe would be the most likely to win, that is winnable,” the Asajaya assemblyman and Assistant Youth Development Minister stressed.

He further said BN would definitely not support or field two candidates in one constituency as that would split the votes and give an advantage to the opponents.

Meanwhile, state BN secretary general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said Adenan had always stressed on unity in the state BN in the coming polls.

“What he (CM) wants is for the BN to be united and whichever party carries BN symbol to contest, he doesn’t want other BN component parties to sabotage,” he was quoted as saying.
