Samarahan will be no pushovers: Abdul Karim

KUCHING: The patron of the Samarahan Division Football Association (PBBS), Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah is confident that the players selected to don the PBBS jerseys to represent the division at the Soccer Enthusiasts Group (SEG) Soccer Invitation will play their heart out and rise to the challenge.

“Eventhough it is still too early to judge the other teams’ strength, I have full confidence that the players selected to represent Samarahan will not disappoint their supporters,” he said when met at the final of the PBBS U19 PBBS League 2013.

“I was told that the Samarahan team will comprise of players under 19 years of age and added with some experienced players, I am sure that we will give the other teams a good fight.”

“The three days tournament in a way is a good avenue to give our youngsters the chance to show their true potentials and with the presence of three good teams, this will be a testing ground for them.”

“All the teams in this tournament have the chance to walk away with the champions trophy as they are equally strong and prepared,” he added.

Meanwhile, tournament organising chairman, Awang Mahyan Awang Mohamad said that this tournament played in a round robin format will give the chance for all the teams to play each other and this will give the teams the added motivation to win all their matches as the top two teams will play in the championships round where the tournament prize money of RM5000 awaits the overall winner.
