ASAJAYA: The distribution of 1 Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) by the Barisan Nasional (BN) Government is not intended to fish for votes but is a commitment from the government to the people.

Asajaya State Assemblyman, Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who said this, added that the government was always aware of the needs of the people.

“BR1M is a brilliant idea by the government to ease the burden of the people, especially those in the low and middle income groups.

“The government has also worked hard for the well-being of the people so that they will able to have better lives,” he said.

Karim was speaking yesterday during the distribution of BR1M 2.o for the Asajaya constituency at Asajaya Sports Complex.

He also said that if the government was given the mandate to administer the country after the general election, there would be more assistance and programmes for the people.

About RM5 million was presented to the first batch of BR1M 2.0 recipients in Asajaya Constituency yesterday.

Karim also urged the people in Asajaya to open their mind and know who to choose in the coming general election.

“Vote for the people or party who will able to fight for the people’s rights. Look at the candidate’s performance before he or she is nominated.

“This is also the time for the people to fully exercise their rights as voters and choose their own leaders,” he said.

Yesterday, about 9800 people from Asajaya Constituency were present to receive the BR1M assistance.
