SIBU: Housing Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg paid Chinese New Year visits to three Chinese leaders here yesterday.
In his entourage were his wife Datin Amar Jumaani Tuanku Bujang, Housing and Youth Development Assistant Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce, Johari’s political secretary Wan Liz Osman Wan Omar and CEO of HDC, Wan Mohd Yusop Wang Moss.
The entourage made their first stop at the house of Local Government and Community Development Minister and Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh at about 10.30am.
They then visited Lanang MP and chairman of Sibu Municipal Council Datuk Tiong Thai King and Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Ming.
Johari, who is also Tourism Minister, said he hoped the year of the snake would bring prosperity, peace and happiness to everybody.
“Hopefully, the economy will stay good, and our country, prosperous for the benefit of all Malaysians,” he said.
He praised the various races in Sibu for being cooperative despite their cultural differences.
