State DAP doesn’t need PKR or PAS to help them

SIBU: State DAP is running dry on issues and their latest move to go against hudud law proved it – knowing that PAS is not strong in Sarawak.

State BN secretary-general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi was reacting to state DAP organising secretary Violet Yong’s statement, echoing party chief Chong Chieng Jen’s call to state PKR to quit Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Sarawak and work with them to form a new coalition.

“Hudud will not be implemented in Sarawak, therefore there is no issue here as clearly clarified by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

“DAP Sarawak is so desperate and they are running out of issues in the state and going against hudud is just to prove their stance knowing PAS is not strong in Sarawak.

“While they have no problem of severing ties with PAS in Sarawak, why are they not doing the same in Selangor?

“They won’t, because PAS will form the next government in Selangor if they do that. In the case of PKR, it’s all political ploy and survival and not based on principles/ideology,” said Dr Rundi, who is also Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunications).

Yong, in a recent press statement said the hudud law issue had prompted PKR and DAP in Sabah to sever ties with PAS.

She said if Sarawak PKR did not make a stand on the issue or remained stubbornly silent, it would look like they wanted to continue cooperating with PAS.

Assistant Minister of Youth Development Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah meanwhile said Sarawak DAP was steadfast in its stand unlike their counterparts in Peninsular Malaysia.

“Baru Bian and PKR Sarawak is likened to the Malay saying ‘cakap tak serupa bikin’. They seem to advocate a certain stand but when the crucial time comes for them to make a decision, they chicken out,” said Abdul Karim, who is Asajaya assemblyman.

“Whatever it is, State DAP doesn’t need PKR or PAS to help them. They can stand on their own. It’s PKR that needs DAP to win some of their seats.”
