KUCHING: Borneo Development Corporation (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd (BDC) yesterday officially launched Phase 6 and 7 of its housing project at Dusun Bayu, in conjunction with its Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri gathering at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.
The event was graced by the Assistant Minister of Housing, YB Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is also the chairman of BDC.
Located next to the Demak Laut commercial centre along Jalan Bako, Kuching, Dusun Bayu housing estate covers an area of about 42 acres and has been approved with 395 units of terraced and semi-detached houses and 192 apartment units, to be developed in 10 phases.
All the residential properties in the project are of the medium cost category and are located on a mixed zone land, with a tenure of 60 years.
“With its prime location within a mature housing area close to the upcoming Isthmus City development, properties in Dusun Bayu will definitely experience appreciation in their value over the coming years,” Abdul Karim emphasised.
Overall, Phase 6 and 7 of Dusun Bayu will feature 104 units of double storey terraced houses, with two different designs being offered, and each with gross floor area of at least 1,600 square feet.
The Phase 6 units – Ruby – are of a modern design while those in Phase 7 – Ivy and Lily – have attractive classic designs with a touch of modern features.

He further highlighted that during the promotional period, the 48 units in Phase 6 (Ruby) are priced from RM390,000 for an intermediate unit and up to RM480,000 for a corner unit.
The units in Phase 7 (Ivy) have prices ranging from RM380,000 (intermediate) to RM470,000 for a corner unit.
As for the ‘Lily’ units, they have slightly larger floor area and are priced at RM400,000 for an immediate unit, while corner units are priced at RM500,000 upwards each.
“Development activities in Dusun Bayu will be continuous over the next five to six years as we will continue with the terrace town houses and semi-detached houses in Phase 8 and 9, respectively. Phase 10 will be developed with 96 units of apartments,” he added.
Other ongoing projects being implemented by BDC and its associate companies are in Limbang, Sibu, Sri Aman, Samarahan and Kuching divisions. These ongoing projects put together have an estimated gross development value (GDV) of about RM400 million.
In addition, the housing project located next to Unimas campus – Taman Uni-Alam – features 24 unit double storey terraced and semi-detached houses, including two detached lots.
To date, 50 per cent of the units have been sold and construction works are in progress. There is also a limited number of low cost houses available in Desa Sejijak, Matang, as well as shop houses at Stakan Junction along Jalan Datuk Mohammad Musa, Samarahan.
Semi-detached factory units and light industrial detached lots are also available for sale in Limbang Light Industrial estate.
