KUCHING: The ‘Jelajah Belia Sarawak’ 2019 event will kick off this Saturday (April 13) with the launching ceremony at Asajaya Sports Complex in Samarahan.
Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the event will cover all the 40 districts across the state, whether in urban, sub-urban or rural areas.
He pointed out that several activities, which are targeted at youths would be organised in conjunction with the event that will run until end of next year.
For this year, the event is expected to cover 20 districts and another 20 districts next year with a total allocation of RM3.1 million.
“For the Jelajah Belia Sarawak 2019, which is held for the first time, we are organising at least one activity in every district and targeting between 500 and 1,000 youths to attend it.
“We are organising this event to enable more youths to showcase their talents, give them confidence and voice out their needs,” Abdul Karim said during a press conference to announce the event at his office at Bangunan Baitukmakmur here yesterday.
According to him, among the activities are ‘Belia Got Talents’ and motivation talk to be presented by several youths from Sarawak who were successful in their respective fields.
Abdul Karim pointed out that the activities are open to youths aged between 15 and 40 years old.
He stressed that there was no political agenda in holding ‘Jelajah Belia Sarawak’ event which is also organised by federal and state government departments and agencies.
