KUCHING: Three Sarawakian male muaythai boxers will represent the country at the IFMA World Junior Championships starting this Thursday in Bangkok, Thailand.

They with Sarawak Muaythai Association (PMNS) officials and coaches met Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at his office yesterday for a flag handing over ceremony.

A proud Abdul Karim reminded the trio to do their best as they are not only representing Sarawak but Malaysia as well.

“It is an honour to represent your country as the whole nation is praying for your success,” he said.

The minister also made a personal contribution of RM2,000 to be shared among Prtasarthee Punniyamoorthy, Ayu Adyqa Azmi and Johan Ghazali Zulfikar.

PMNS president Jumaat Ibrahim told reporters that the three have proven to be among the finest in the country at the national youth championships held in Kuala Lumpur last month.

He is expecting them to return with at least a gold medal.
