Proposed new village in Sibu to have about 860 lots

AN estimated 860 housing lots will be provided in the proposed village Silviculture Batu 11, Oya Road in Sibu.

However, Assistant Minister of Housing Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the project is still at an early planning stage and the criteria to select applicants for the lots has yet to be decided.

“But priorities will be given to Kampung Datu villagers depending on guidelines that we will frame it later on,” he said in responding to questions raised by Annuar Rapaee (BN-Nangka).


To a question on when the village would be built, he said at the moment, the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) is preparing the plan to be forwarded to State Planning Council (SPA) for approval.

He said the project will be implemented in the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016 to 2020) depending on the allocation approved.

To a separate question raised by Yussibnosh Balo (BN-Balingian), Karim said a total of 75 units of ‘Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) had been built in Mukah District, including 27 units in ‘Skim Pembesaran Kampong Petanak’ and 48 units in ‘Skim Pembesaran Kampong Nelayan’.

Another 28 units are ready to be built, of which eight units iwould be n ‘Skim Pembesaran Kampong Nelayan’, Mukah and 20 units in ‘Skim Pembesaran Kampong Balingian’.

“These 28 units will be built after we have received confirmation of houses building allocation from ‘Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB),” he said.
