KUCHING: Assistant Minister of Housing Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has chided the opposition for labelling Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem as a populist.
This, he said, was deeply inaccurate as Adenan is a leader who walks the talk.
“If a person says something and follows through with what he said, he or she should not be called a populist.
“In this case, he (Adenan) is doing something good for the people,” he told The Borneo Post when met yesterday.
Abdul Karim went on to explain that a populist is a person who promises all the good things in order to gain popularity but all those sweet talks are merely hot air.
“In this case, our chief minister is not like that.
He meant it when he said that his family cannot apply for the timber concession.
Just wait and see,” he stressed.
Abdul Karim was asked to comment on a remark by the opposition that Adenan was a populist after the chief minister gave a stern warning to timber industry players on corruption and illegal logging activities in the state.
