The new flights arrangements from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS) or better known as Subang Airport to Sarawak is very much welcomed because such development can be seen to stimulate and advance our local tourism sector. Personally I have welcomed the resumption of flights from Subang to Sarawak and Sabah because it could develop as well as boost our tourism sector.
Whatever can lead to the progress of Sarawak, of course we will feel good… as the minister in charge of tourism I am also looking forward to seeing the flight in action because it's going to be a good thing. As the aviation sector increases, new flights will come in… there will definitely be more people coming . When more people come, it will definitely support the tourism industry.
To ensure that the flight schedule runs smoothly, the airline companies will monitor all aspects including capacity, load, payload and schedule. When they introduce a sector, a specific destination, they will always monitor and check for the first three months and the next three months. If it is not really good, the capacity, load and payload will be reduced or they may increase it if the flight looks good.
For example, the flight from Kuching to Jakarta was previously only three times a week, but now it operates every day. Previously, AirAsia had re-launched flights to Sarawak and Sabah from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS) after 24 years of launching its first service. AirAsia through the news report reported that the resumption of Subang Airport services will strengthen the domestic flight network in Malaysia.
With the opening of operations in Subang, the airline aims to increase the number of domestic passengers. The expansion makes it the airline with the widest domestic network with 40 routes across the country with 1,860 weekly domestic flights by the end of December 2024.
