Look at yourself in the mirror, Karim tells Baru

SIBU: State PKR chief Baru Bian’s claims in Free Malaysia Today that MPs from Sabah and Sarawak are nothing more than ‘window dressing’ in the federal cabinet drew brickbats from across the political divide yesterday.

Asajaya assemblyman Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah urged Baru to do his homework before ridiculing these MPs who were given a strong mandate by the people.

Abdul Karim said Baru’s remarks in the online portal under the caption ‘It’s Najib’s ‘thank you’ to Taib’ smacked of disrespect for the wishes of the people.

“I can’t imagine Baru would stoop so low as to insult MPs from his fellow state who had just got democratically elected, with one of them Hasbi (Habibollah) giving him a good trashing in Limbang after he had chickened out from Ba’kelalan and Lawas.

“Baru must be thinking he is the best assemblyman. Lest he forget that the people are the one that got all these MPs elected and they had spoken loud and clear by electing many Sarawakian BN MPs with massive majorities,” Abdul Karim, who is also Assistant Minister of Youth Development, said.

Hence, he said Baru had better check the credentials of all the Sarawakian ministers in the cabinet and compare them with his before opening his mouth.

“How many times have the people rejected him (Baru) in elections?”

He recalled that Baru only managed to scrap through in the last state election (in 2011) and had to ‘run away’ to Limbang in the recent 13th general election as he knew he was carrying lots of unfulfilled promises in Ba Kelalan.

“He (Baru) does not have many places to run to, and the next state election will be his Waterloo.”
