SARIKEI: The third series of Sejiwa Senada Programme to be held at the Sports Complex here Feb 19-21 will provide a platform for the people to obtain the various services provided by the state and federal governments.
A total of 170 federal and state government agencies as well as statutory bodies are expected to open up to 190 booths to provide services to the public during the three-day programme, Assistant Minister of Social Development Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah told a press conference at the Resident Office here yesterday.
Likening the services to those provided at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), Abdul Karim said the Sejiwa Senada was a one-stop centre represented by almost all agencies under the federal and state governments.
The first one held in Miri managed to attract 80,000 people while Sibu registered about 180,000 visitors and participants.
Abdul Karim advised the local people to take full advantage of the programmes to seek advice on how to solve whatever problems they had so that they could be addressed on the spot.
He also urged the local people to make full use of ‘Sarikei Kitchen’ to promote their products and local delicacies.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is scheduled to officially launch the programme at 10am on Feb 20 while Minister of Social Development Tan Sri William Mawan will have the honour to close it in the evening of the following day.
After the opening ceremony Adenan is expected to present appointment certificates to 36 community leaders and distribute Petronas’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) contribution to local welfare organisations.
Assistant Minister of Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh, Deputy State Secretary Datu Misnu Taha, Sarikei Resident Dr Anthony Valentine Laiseh, Residents from other divisions and district officers from Sarikei, Meradong, Julau and Pakan were among those present at the press conference. -TheBorneoPost
