Reminding our youths on their responsibilities and roles in national building

Recently I have reminded our local youths on the important roles they play in nation-building and they should shoulder greater share of responsibilities along the way. Thus our youths must be ready to take on the role and lead in order to safeguard Sarawak as well as our nation.

This is why the Ministry of Youth and Sports Sarawak (MYSS) is working hard with its strategic partners in getting engaged with our youths who we hope that those will inherit the leadership of the state and country in the future. The youths must have the attributes of being responsible, have high level of volunteerism, community-oriented, and can establish a larger community outside of their own family.

We also want young leaders to take their roles and responsibilities because we want to see them to be mature so that they can take care of future young generation and also us (the older generation). I have mentioned this during the "Ziarah Belia" youth programme in Semariang, Petra Jaya which was organised by MYSS. The event is an ongoing youth engagement program currently being held for youths throughout Sarawak with the aim to shape them into responsible citizens who can be depended on by the community in the future.

That is why we continuously organise programmes to reach out to the youths with the aim to discuss, converse, and listen to their aspirational objectives so that we can alter more programmes to fit their needs and desires. Despite knowing that not all will participate in shouldering their responsibilities, we still have high hopes the majority of youths who will stand tall to the aspiration and continue to become the best for the state.

This is because we still to move forward with our youth development agenda and their capacity building even though we will face various obstacles but the spirit must not fade. There will be a cycle in life where one would face several difficulties and hardships, therefore, the youth must be conscientious in order to assist members of their peer group valuable assets to the community.
