THE ‘Visit Sarawak’ campaign will be officially launched this Dec 31, in conjunction with the New Year countdown at Kuching Waterfront.
Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the campaign, set to run next year, had its series of soft launches in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and London – serving as a ‘teaser’ for the trade and tourism industry players.
“The next launch will be in Shenzhen, China in December.
“At the launch, a campaign video and a new destination video will showcase a fresh, vibrant and modern Sarawak as a holiday destination,” he said in delivering his ministerial winding-up speech at the DUN sitting yesterday.
Abdul Karim said ‘Visit Sarawak’ campaign has a strategic marketing approach that focuses more on the ‘tactical and digital prong’ to attract instant results.
“The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has locked an agreement with AirAsia for a plane livery carrying the campaign logo on its regional routes.
“The agreement also includes attractive advertisement artworks for in-flight head luggage storage and table-top trays in AirAsia Thai and AirAsia Malaysia (flights) starting in December 2018.”
On the international front, Abdul Karim said STB had just penned an agreement on strategic collaboration with Malaysia Airlines London and Tourism Malaysia London for the campaign to be publicised and advertised across the European and UK markets via London’s taxi wraps, home advertising and online packages – all offering competitive fares to Sarawak by Malaysia Airlines London.
“Another great milestone achieved under the ‘Visit Sarawak’ campaign platform is the collaboration between STB and Royal Brunei Airlines, where Sarawak will be air-connected directly between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kuching on twice-weekly flights, starting on Dec 28, 2018. -TheBorneoPost
