PH should solve, not blame – Karim

KUCHING: The Pakatan Harapan government should solve the country’s financial difficulties promptly instead of continuously accusing the previous government administration for the current financial position, said Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

He was responding to Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng comments on the federal government needing more time to address the government revenue sharing formula for Sabah and Sarawak.

On Oct 24, Lim told the Dewan Rakyat that the federal government needed more time to come up with right revenue sharing formula for Sabah and Sarawak as the government inherited a challenging financial situation from the previous government. .

Abdul Karim said that it was unbecoming for Lim to utter such comments as Sabah and Sarawak has contribute greatly to the nation coffers.

He added that Lim was previously very passionate and concerns on the development in Sabah and Sarawak before the last general election.

However, Abdul Karim now believes that Lim has been flip-flopping with his comments on Sabah and Sarawak ever since he was elected as the Minister of Finance.

“After being appointed as the minister of Finance, things seem to be coming differently from him (Lim) now,” he said at a press conference during a visit to the new Sarawak Museum here today.

“If they want to do it, they can do it now. They can always make the provision now,” he said while commenting the federal government willingness to assist Sabah and Sarawak.

He added that the federal government should take care of the interests of Sabah and Sarawak as half of the country reserves come from these two states. -TheBorneoPost
