KUCHING: The Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led federal government should solve the country’s financial difficulties promptly, instead of accusing the previous administration for the problem continuously.
Sarawak Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah expressed these remarks in response to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s recent comment about the federal government needing more time to address the federal government’s revenue-sharing formula for Sarawak and Sabah.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 24, Lim said the federal government would need more time to come up with right formula for Sarawak and Sabah, in that it ‘inherited’ financial scandals from the previous government.
In this respect, Abdul Karim said it was unbecoming for Lim to utter such comments as Sarawak and Sabah had been contributing greatly to the nation’s coffers.
He pointed out that before the last general election, Lim had been very passionate and concerned about the development in Sarawak and Sabah.
“After being appointed as the Minister of Finance, things seem to be coming differently from him (Lim) now,” Abdul Karim told reporters during a visit to the new Sarawak Museum site here yesterday.
He also described Lim as ‘having flip-flopping’ with his comments on Sarawak and Sabah ever since he was elected as a federal minister. -TheBorneoPost
