MIRI: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports will strictly not tolerate any haphazard and lackadaisical element as far as providing first-class tourism facilities and products in Sarawak is concerned.
Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah assured everyone of such commitment during a press conference held after the launch of the third Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Miri Fair 2018 at Emart Riam yesterday.
Citing ‘Wireless Walk’ – the tourism corridor development that spans along North Yu Seng Road here – as an example, he said the RM3.36-million project should help beautify the area and thus, provide the economic boost to shop-owners in the area, upon the its expected completion this October.
“Although some people are unhappy with the project, works on ‘Wireless Walk’ will continue according to schedule.
“Of course, we don’t want ‘cincai’ (haphazard and lackadaisical) works. I want this project to be implemented well because it reflects the image of the city,” he said.
Upon completion, the Wireless Walk should be able to accommodate 66 stalls and five food trucks. Moreover, the area would be provided with WiFi coverage and other key facilities, including public toilets. -TheBorneoPost
