We fully support Sarawak’s government decision to establish the state’s first international Islamic school as an effort to empower the intellectual development of Muslim youth in which a sum of RM95 million was allocated . This was announced by our right honourable Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who said the initiative has received the support of both Muslim leaders and also non-Muslim leaders.
He mentioned these in his speech when officiating the recent 64th Sarawak Level Quran Recitation and Hafazan ceremony with the theme 'Sarawak Maju Makmur' held at the Kota Samarahan Civic Hall. According to him, the school will have a full boarding concept, where Hafiz students can expand their studies, including in the field of modern science. Our government had also conducted a study and took inspiration from Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah, which uses the Cambridge international syllabus, as a model for the development of the school.
The school is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 and will provide opportunities for excellent students in the Islamic faith to continue their studies to the secondary school level.
