Adenan will be greatly missed - Karim

January 12, 2017

PETALING JAYA: A senior PBB leader Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the state had lost a great leader, who in a short time, managed to create such a big impact on Sarawakians and Malaysians.

He said it was rare to hear negative comments about the late Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, who has united Sarawakians of all races and beliefs.

“Even the opposition like him and have a lot of respect for him. He has laid the path for his successor and Sarawak,” said Karim, who is a state assistant minister for housing, Free Malaysia Today reported.

“He will be greatly missed. For me personally, I have lost a leader, a father, a mentor, a close confidante and a friend. May he have a place in heaven.”

Meanwhile Adenan's youngest daughter Aziza said : “He deserves every bit of that Sarawak flag covering his coffin because he lived and breathed for Sarawak.”

“Yesterday, I just lost a part of my heart and my soul. I had to face the hard reality of losing a parent. It is the hardest time for me right now and I find solace in the love that everyone has for my late father,” said the 33-year-old, the youngest of Adenan’s five children.

In a statement to FMT, Aziza said people from far and near came to say their goodbyes and share amazing stories about her father, who passed away yesterday afternoon at the Sarawak General Hospital Heart Centre, just days short of his 73rd birthday.

She described Adenan as a true statesman who held the state and its people close to his heart, and who, even in his final days, was making decisions for Sarawak.

Aziza then related a personal conversation her mother, Jamilah, had with her father, just to describe the late chief minister’s love for the state.

Adenan, she said, told Jamilah, “I want people to love Sarawak as much as I do Milah (Jamilah), cause if they do, they will take good care of it.”

Aziza said her father taught her generosity, sincerity and kindness, and to “always keep your feet on the ground no matter how high life takes you”.

“Please pray that God will bless his soul and give us all the strength to face the days to come without him.”

Recalling her past conversations with her dad, Aziza said Adenan had always reminded her, “Don’t say goodbye, say Au Revoir, which is, ’till we meet again'”.

“Till we meet again daddy…May God forgive all your sins and place you at the highest form of jannah (paradise).” -@ybkarimsays
