Marzuki Qari champ while Dayang Marsita Qariah champ

SIBU: Marzuki Batu from Taman Sukma, Kuching was champion in the Qari section (adult) of the Inter-Scheme (state-level) Quran Recital Competition 2013 held at Darul Husna mosque, Sibujaya here on Saturday night.

The second place went to Bujang Karim (Taman Sukma, Kuching) and third place to Sharif Untong (Kampung Tunku RPR Astana Fasa II, Kuching).

In the Qariah section (adult), Dayang Marsita Abang Ibrahim (Taman Sourabaya Indah, Kuching) was first while Rohani Japali (Bandar Baru Samariang Fasa II, Kuching) was second and Hanim Jeraee (RPR Piasau II, Miri) third.


Mohd Adam Abdul Gani from Taman Sukma, Kuching was first for Qari (boys’ secondary) while Mohd Sushil Sopran (Bandar Baru Samariang Fasa III, Kuching) second and Mohd Azani Adenan third.

For the Qariah (girls’ secondary) Nurshahira Ismail from Bandar Baru Samariang Fasa II, Kuching was first while Sharifah Mahfuzah Wan Alam Shah (Kampung Malaysia Jaya, RPR Astana Fasa I, Kuching) second and Fatimah Al-Zaharah Merzuki (Bandar Baru Samariang, Kuching) third.

Prizes were handed over by Housing Assistant Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at the closing ceremony held at Sibujaya multi-purpose hall on Saturday night.

This year the event was organised by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) in cooperation with Darul Husna mosque, Sibujaya, Sibu from Dec 11 to 14.

The event was one of HDC’s annual Community Development Programmes (under the religious wing) to instil the spirit of integration among communities residing in HDC schemes throughout Sarawak.

In his address, Karim said the progress and development planning implemented in Sibujaya by the developers drew various communties to Sibujaya, a new thriving residential area favoured by many people for its development.

According to him, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) scheme of Sibujaya aims for 5,000 Muslim communities in Sibujaya.

“Though not many Muslims communities live in Sibujaya, we are able to live in peace and harmony with other ethnic groups.

“I hope those who live in Sibujaya HDC scheme will strengthen their relation and respect for one another,” he said.

On the Inter-Scheme (state level) Quran Recital competition, Karim said it would strengthen relationship among participants and residents in the HDC scheme.

HDC chairman Datuk Dr Abdul Rauf Zen and chairman of Darul Husna mosque, Sibujaya, Jamil were among those attending. -TheBorneoPost
