Abdul Karim: More efforts to be made to improve financial management of Museum Department

KUCHING: More efforts will be made to improve the financial management of the Sarawak Museum Department.

Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youths and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said although the Auditor General’s (AG) report was for 2016, he would seriously look into the matter even though he was not the minister in-charge then.

“Definitely, I’m not happy with the performance of Sarawak Museum Department (due to what was) rightly pointed out by the AG.

KUCHING: Penambahbaikan dan pindaan perlu dilakukan ke atas sistem pengurusan kewangan Jabatan Muzium Sarawak (JMS) dengan meng-ambil kira elemen-elemen utama dinilai oleh Jabatan Audit Negara (JAN).

Menteri Pelancongan, Ke-senian, Kebudayaan, Belia dan Sukan Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah berkata langkah itu perlu bagi me-mastikan pencapaian peng-urusan kewangan JMS diperbaiki bermula tahun ini.

“Sudah tentu saya tidak gembira dengan pencapaian Jabatan Muzium Sarawak seperti dinyatakan oleh Ketua Audit Negara (KAN) Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad dalam Laporan Ketua Audit Negara (LKAN) Siri 1, 2016.

Karim wants State muaythai boxers to give their best

KUCHING: Three Sarawakian male muaythai boxers will represent the country at the IFMA World Junior Championships starting this Thursday in Bangkok, Thailand.

They with Sarawak Muaythai Association (PMNS) officials and coaches met Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at his office yesterday for a flag handing over ceremony.

A proud Abdul Karim reminded the trio to do their best as they are not only representing Sarawak but Malaysia as well.

Why only one ringgit?

KUCHING: The federal Tourism and Culture Ministry must explain to Sarawak and Sabah why their share of the tourism tax collected from foreigners visiting Malaysia has been reduced to RM1 for every RM10 collected when originally the total collection was to be divided equally among Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak and Sabah.

Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said he was taken aback by this sudden reduction.

“This (equal distribution among the three regions)was proposed by the federal Tourism and Culture Minister (Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz) himself and later by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
