A total of 214 nominations for this year's Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Awards (SHTA)

We are delighted with the good response for this year's Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Awards (SHTA) which have been organised to honour outstanding contributors to Sarawak's tourism industry.

For this year's awards, we have received a total of 241 nominations across 8 main categories and 27 sub-categories. The good response received can be viewed as a testament to the resilience of Sarawak's tourism sector.

The awards were last held in 2018, before the Covid-19 pandemic and now things are back to normal. We shall celebrate achievements in sectors such as hospitality, ecotourism, and cultural preservation and served as a platform for innovation and excellence in tourism.

There are 72 finalists who had been selected to compete for the top honours, which will be presented by Premier of Sarawak, the right honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg at the presentation ceremony to be held on September 27.

This time round there are two special awards which would be presented namely the Special Recognition Award for Contributions during Covid-19 and the Special Hornbill Award for Responsible Tourism.

Our guest of honour will also present the Special Hornbill Lifetime Achievement Award to an individual who has made significant contributions to Sarawak's tourism industry.
