Good outcomes from MYSED Appreciation, Engagement and Collaboration Nite 2022

We thank the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Sarawak, Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg for joining at last night's  "MYSED Appreciation, Engagement and Collaboration Nite 2022" organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Sarawak which was held at Waterfront Hotel, Kuching. Representatives from a total of 71 sports associations and non governmental associations (NGO) including youth organizations had attended the event which featured the handing over grants from the State Government through MYSED.

Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari in his speech had mentioned Sarawak Government will continue to empower the development of Sarawak Sports Village in our efforts to make the state a sports powerhouse in the future. We thank him for giving us the assurance that the State Government will channel assistances so that the mission as envisioned by MYSED will be achieved. He had also mentioned that our future with be bright if our young generation are given the opportunity and guided direction where they are optimistic of their own future. Through sports, they will have the spirit of sportsmanship and because sports is about being resilient, then this would mean that the youths will be more committed to achieve greatness and be driven to victory. On the spirit of entrepreneurship, our Chief Minister said the youths would be more inclined to venture into such sector and it is one of the career of the future. That is why we have to prepare them and that is one of the reasons why MYSED is holding such portfolio.

Meanwhile, I have mentioned in my speech that a total of 55 youth associations and individuals in Sarawak had already benefited from the Sarawak Youth Creative Industry Fund (SYCIF). The fund was set up in 2018 and offered under MYSED which was aimed to develop the talents of the youth in arts and culture, especially music, film, drama, theatre, and more.

The fund is open to all Sarawakian youths aged between 19 to 40, be it individuals, groups and organisations and it will also encourage the development and potential of the creative and innovative youth in Sarawak. The fund is specifically for those who want to polish their skills and not for business-related purposes. Kudos to the acting Permanent Secretary of MYSED, Puan Nancy Haji Jolhie and her team from Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) as well as Sarawak State Sports Council (MSN Sarawak) for a job well done in organising last night's event.
